Beginner's Ride, First Saturday of the Month

Join the Baton Rouge Bicycle Club the first Saturday of each month for a beginner's bicycle ride.  Rides begin at 9:00 at Webb Memorial Park's parking lot at the corner of Broussard and Country Club Drive.  These rides will begin in March and conclude in October 2010.

Rides will be at a slow comfortable pace and will meander through surrounding neighborhoods.  Distance will depend on the participants and the weather but will be fairly short. Any type of bicycle can be used, i.e. mountain, hybrid, or road.  Guardian or parent is required for ages 12 and under.  Helmets are required for all riders, and it is suggested to bring a water bottle.

For more information, contact Mike Constantin, at 225-937-9157, mjconstantin@cox.net

Saturday and Sunday Tour de Coffee

Ride starts and ends at Goodwood Park, near the intersection of Goodwood Blvd. and Jefferson Hwy.  The ride takes participants down to the scenic LSU area, around the City Park lakes, to the levee at Skip Bertman Avenue, then through downtown Baton Rouge stopping for coffee at Red Stick Farmers Market or other coffee shops.  The ride is about 25-30 miles at speeds of 10-16 mph. For starting times, please see the postings or calendar on the Baton Rouge Bike Club Yahoo Group, or contact Chris DeRouen, at 225-241-8056, cd70806@gmail.com or Bruce Wickert, at 225-963-8616, blwickert@cox.net

Saturday Outlying Area Rides

Saturday outlying area rides are 15-18 mph and usually have routes from 20-60 miles. No new riders will be left behind. Click here for the July through December 2010 ride schedule.

For more information check the Baton Rouge Bike Club Yahoo Group postings or contact Andy Picou, at 225-242-7833, andypicou@cox.net

Sunday Rides

All Sunday rides meet at the Fire Station on Hwy 966 south of St. Francisville.

'A' group ride lengths are 50-70 miles, speed 18-22 mph.

'B' group ride lengths are 40-55 miles, speed 15-17 mph.

Direction to the fire station: Take Hwy 61 north from Baton Rouge. Just after you cross Thompson Creek the road narrows to 2 lanes. Just as it starts to narrow, Folkes Road is to the right. The sign is hard to see because of road construction, but you will take a right through the dirt and up to Folkes Road. Take Folkes Road to its end at Hwy 966. Take a right and go about 1 mile down the road. You will see a yellow highway sign with the fire truck on it. Just after that on the left is an opening to the station. It's a good 100 to 200 feet from the road and kind of hidden by the trees.
For starting times, please check the Baton Rouge Bike Club Yahoo Group postings or contact John Hagan (for A Group), at 225-270-2196, JohnH54@aol.com or Kathy Constantin (for B Group), at 225-241-0533, kwconstantin@yahoo.com
